Starting in 1995 Ensemble Villancico has toured more than thirty countries with its Early World Music repertoire - foremost Latin American baroque music and early music with links to the Nordic region. With joyful intensity and first class musical qualities the group has gained a reputation world-wide as a leading interpreter in its genre.
On the occasion of the very first CD-recording of Missa Lauda Hierusalem by Swedish composer Bertil Kellner's (Bartolomeus Chellnerus),- the oldest Swedish liturgical polyphonic composition by a known author - Ensemble Villancico, conducted by Peter Pontvik, performs these mass with vocal soloists, brass ensemble and organ.
Time again for the ensemble for a South American tour - in this opportunity to Ecuador and Colombia. Invited by the Festival de Música Sacra in Quito and the Banco de la República in Bogotá, the ensemble offers three concerts on March 26, 27 and 28.
